“THE SAFETY AND QUALITY OF OUR PRODUCT IS PARAMOUNT”—PROF. SAMUEL ATO DUNCAN

The Executive President of Center of Awareness Research and Manufacturing Company Limited (COA-RMCL), Prof. Samuel Ato Duncan has stated that his company’s primal aim is to keep consistently focused on the best of standards to produce good quality product for the herbal medicine market.

Prof. Duncan was speaking at the commissioning of a new ten-million-Ghana cedi ultra-modern automated factory for COA-RMCL at Wusorkrom last Wednesday.

He intimated that the formation of the new company, COA Research and Manufacturing Company Limited, will see to further research and manufacturing of COA products by working in collaboration with other research institutions and the Food and Drugs Authority.

He added that it was a blessing in disguise for him to have been in a predicament that sparked his vision to refurbish and expand the company. The factory, which is a facelift of the old factory to international standards, boasts of an installation of a new automated equipment to reduce human contact during production and to improve quality. There is also an installation of security structures to prevent any possible contamination.

Prof. Duncan said the company has employed technical and non-technical staff to improve efficiency and quality. Additionally, there has been a training of staff by the Food and Drugs Authority on Good Manufacturing Practices.

A nine -man Board of Directors to steer the running of the COA-RMCL, chaired by the Omanhen of Abease Dominase Traditional Area and Vice Chairman of The National House of Chiefs, Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII, was introduced. Others are the Omanhen of Oguaa Traditional Area Nana Kwesi Attah II, the Executive President of COA-RMCL, Prof. Samuel Ato Duncan, Omanhen Asebu Traditional Area, Prof. Okatakyi Amenfi VII, a former Director of Centre for Scientific Research into Plant Medicine, Prof. Augustine Ocloo, Head of Department of Microbioloogy and Immunology, School of Medical Sciences, Prof. Samuel Victor Nuvor, Mr. Robert Otieku Duncan, Mrs. Docia Aba Duncan and Ms. Princess Duncan, who are designated as Vice-Chairman and members respectively.

The factory was completed over a period of five months.

He went on to commend the management and technical staff of the FDA for their support in the trying times.
